I wasn't sure what to think of this one at first. It was a bit strange and seemed to meander... But the voice was excellent and the characters were all engaging. It didn't take long for things to begin to come together -- and then I was hooked! To me, this novel is, at its heart, above family and the love they have for each other. They may not all be good at showing it, but they all want to be good for each other. Since they're human, we've got issues with self esteem, regrets, resentments, confusion, and all the rest. However, since this is a book about psychics, the powers are thrown into the mix. What is it like for someone who can never be lied to? How about someone that sees the future already mapped out? As all the family threads come together, it's feels like the magic tricks that pop up in the book -- there's plenty of sleight of hand and engaging exposition that ends with the reader delighted and full of wonder.
