Twitter wars and fast-food unite in Emma Lord’s Tweet Cute. Pepper does everything-- and she’s good at it. As captain of the swim team, a stellar student, an amazing baker, as well as daughter of the owners of the rapidly expanding fast-food chain, Big League Burger, Pepper has high hopes and expectations of herself. Even with all this on her plate, her mom enlists her to take care of the company’s Twitter page and engage in an all out Twitter battle! Cue Jack, class clown, diver, not-the-golden-child twin, secret app developer, and the assumed heir of his family’s deli, Girl Cheesing. Soon enough, he is put in charge of the deli’s Twitter account and begins firing: in the form of memes, snarky tweets, and a bunch of polls. When Pepper and Jack’s paths cross at school, they quickly become friends. But will their Twitter escapades come between their friendship? Tweet Cute is a fun novel that takes today’s social media platforms and displays how they can both uplift and harm people and businesses. Yet it simultaneously contains an element of modern day romance -- classic dating with a twist of anonymous chatting. All in all, it’s a great book that I would definitely recommend to anyone facing the pressures of getting into college -- it helps let you know that you’re not alone.
