I enjoyed this much more than World War Z. Devolution is fairly well written. It's a tight story that makes for an easy read. The horror aspect is minimal, but there is plenty of suspense.

Brooks is a good writer who does his research and the book gets pretty thrilling, but it is set-up on the premise of a fairly unrealistic scenario - plopping a LA neighborhood into the Cascades, add a disaster and some Sasquatch. Seems…

Really 1.5 stars but rounding up because I'm a kind and generous person. I greatly enjoyed World War Z so when I learned that Brooks had written a SASQUATCH (!!) book, I didn't even reserve it at the library; I went out and bought that…

Brooks' story takes place after a Mt Rainier eruption where nearby exists an eco-community, brilliantly colored with its latest tech and green development. The author cleverly blends the journals of a member chronicling life and events…

This is one of those “what the heck did I just read books.” But I liked it. This was my first time reading a book by this author and I thought it was an original idea that was creatively written like it was an actual event. Sprinkling…

Solid, creative, but definitely felt more like a story for film than novel

It's no World War Z. It was an interesting story, but I thought it suffered from Brooks trying to follow the same documentary style of his previous work. We were supposed to be reading the narrator's journal, and I never bought it. She…

Mount Rainier has erupted, plummeting the Pacific Northwest into chaos. Amidst this chaos and disaster of another kind occurs. Greenloop, a revolutionary carbon neutral community, and all its residents have fallen victim to a massacre. …

After an eruption at Mount Rainier, a tiny community at its base is found to have been attacked by a tribe of Sasquatch. Read the journal of one of the community members to discover how a seemingly idyllic "sustainable" community breaks…

I very much enjoyed this story. The atmosphere, the character development, the true ape facts at the beginning of each chapter... all of it was just so rich in detail. The gruesome picture painted in this book is enough to make you think…

Good, fast paced, Big Foot fun. Very much looking forward to the upcoming author event. Want to ask him about the Auschwitz allusion he made near the end. There's good social commentary stuff bubbling below the surface here.

Devolution is sort of like X-Files meets Lord of the Flies, but add some more gore. If you love exploring the darkest parts of human nature calling us back to our evolutionary origins, then you'll love this book. It's not for the…
